Hello, I’m Liz. I'm a qualified counsellor based in Bristol, working with adults and young people.

I understand how daunting it can feel to take the first step into counselling and have compassion for anyone starting out on that journey. My aim is to create a supportive, safe space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace.  I hope to help you feel comfortable enough to share your feelings, ensuring you’ll be met with kindness and understanding and without judgement.

My approach is gentle, empathetic, and person-centred - meaning I listen to your experiences as unique and valuable, see the world from your perspective, and tailor our sessions to your individual goals and needs. I believe counselling can be a deeply transformative process when nurtured in the right environment.

While my foundation is in person-centred therapy, I also draw on other approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and solution-focused techniques, when they may be helpful or are requested by clients.

I’m there to be alongside you, offering support and encouragement as you move toward meaningful change.

About me

I am a qualified counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People. I have extensive experience working with both adults and young people aged 11 and above, offering compassionate, client-centred support tailored to individual needs.

My aim through counselling is to support you in exploring any thoughts, feelings, and experiences, so you can better understand yourself and begin to feel more comfortable with who you are. I believe you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to support you in finding your own answers at your own pace.

I currently work part-time as a counsellor in a secondary school, where I support young people as they navigate a range of emotional, social, and developmental challenges. I draw on a relational and humanistic approach, always aiming to meet each student where they are. I often use creative tools like art and games in my work with young people, as they can make it easier for them to express thoughts and feelings that might be hard to put into words. These approaches help build trust, encourage self-expression, and make the therapeutic process feel more accessible and engaging. Creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and suited to their stage of development is at the heart of my work.

I am a full member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework. I undergo regular clinical supervision to ensure I work ethically and professionally at all times.

I have previously worked with client experiencing;

Anxiety •. Depressions •. Suicidal ideation •. Self harm •. Substance misuse •. Exam stress •. Family issues •. Grief •. Low self esteem •. Trauma •. School avoidance •. Gender / sexuality

I offer a free preliminarily 15 minute telephone conversation where we can talk about what your therapy goals are, what I can offer and if that would be a good fit for you.

What is counselling?

Counselling is a space where you can talk openly and honestly about what’s going on in your life, without fear of judgment. It’s a supportive, confidential relationship where you're listened to with empathy and respect. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, confused, or just need someone to talk to, counselling offers a place to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.

You don’t need to have a “big” problem to come to counselling — it’s simply a chance to understand yourself better, make sense of difficult experiences, and find ways to cope or move forward. It’s not about giving advice or telling you what to do, but about helping you find your own voice and path, with someone alongside you in that process.

In person-centred counselling, I believe that each person has the capacity to grow, heal, and find their own answers when given the right kind of support. My role isn’t to fix or advise, but to offer a safe, accepting space where you feel genuinely heard and understood. I work with empathy, honesty, and respect, trusting that you are the expert in your own life. Over time, this kind of supportive relationship can help you feel more connected to yourself, more confident in your choices, and more at ease with who you are.
